Orri attended the London Eating Disorders Conference 2022, taking part in the conversation and movement to ‘improving access to care and treatment flexibility in a challenging world’.

LEDC 22 this year was held at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster. The theme of the conference was based on improving access to care and treatment flexibility. Throughout the three days of the conference, seminars and panel discussions reflected on:

  • how Covid-19 has mental health and people with eating disorders
  • how eating disorder diagnosis, management and care can be optimised in the midst and after the pandemic

We networked with specialists in the eating disorders field from around the world, having important conversations on the development of research and improved services, and also showcased how Orri’s day treatment and online programme aligned as a much-needed service.

At the conference

Over the three days, members of the team represented Orri by showing up, engaging in discussion and attending the all-important seminars.

“Really informative, evidence-based talks which were thought provoking and I am looking forward to watching some of the other talks”. Kendra, Head of Therapies

“LEDC was a great opportunity to meet like-minded, passionate individuals who want to make a difference in the way we treat eating disorders. I felt a lot of warmth and hope in the room and anticipate great things in this field for the future.” Antalia, Community Executive

Orri, our treatment

Orri takes a stepped approach to eating disorder treatment so that every person’s programme is appropriate to their individual needs and evolves with them over time.

What is a stepped approach? As clients progress with their recovery, we work collaboratively with them to ‘step down’ the intensity of their treatment (through reduction of numbers of days/length of days at Orri) and build a programme around them that reflects where they are in their journey.

Our specialist day programmes are intensive, 6-week programmes of in-person treatment for those at different points in their recovery journey.

Treatment takes place during the day, and our approach treats all aspects of the mind and body through group and individual therapy.

With Orri Online, our online treatment programme, we virtually meet clients every 6 weeks to review the programme and offer clients and carers a space to think together about the challenges they’re facing during this time, and discuss how we can help.

All programmes include:

“My first experience of Orri was one of nervous relief. I had never encountered people who sincerely wanted to know ME and what I wanted from treatment, and ultimately, my life.” – Client

It was an absolute pleasure to attend LEDC 22 and we look forward to it again, in March 2023!
