Day treatment

Expert eating disorder care that meets you where you are

A community built around recovery

What is day treatment at Orri?

Day treatment is a specialist eating disorder programme for people who need more regular, structured care than weekly therapy or dietetic sessions provide.

At Orri, treatment is built around you. Your recovery will be supported by eating disorder experts in a caring, collaborative community. We’ll also help you understand your eating disorder while staying connected to everyday life and the people important to you.

Day treatment for eating disorders at Orri

Day treatment brings together various types of specialist support, shaped around your needs and held within Orri’s compassionate recovery community.

Individual therapy

Individual therapy gives you a safe, confidential space with an expert therapist who is non-judgemental and committed to your recovery. Together, you’ll explore your eating disorder, understand what may lie beneath it and develop coping skills to help loosen its hold.

Group therapy

Eating disorders can be isolating. Group therapy offers a supportive space to connect with others who understand, helping you feel less alone while learning through shared experience. Sessions are facilitated by experienced clinicians and conducted with care, confidentiality and respect.

Dietetics and meal support

At Orri, dietetics is about kindness, structure and trust. We don’t focus on calories or rigid rules. Instead, we help you build a safer relationship with food through practical guidance, supported meals and gentle challenges that move at the right pace for you.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy examines how your eating disorder affects everyday life, from routines and relationships to study, work and time at home. Our occupational therapists help you build skills, confidence and autonomy where extra support may be needed.

Psychiatry (as required)

A multidisciplinary team delivers your programme, with psychiatric and nursing support included where needed. This may involve physical health monitoring, risk assessments, medication reviews and other checks to help keep you safe throughout treatment.

Nursing

Our nursing team looks after our clients’ physical health and safety, managing risk assessments, weights, blood tests, ECGs and much more.

Somatic and body-based therapies

Somatic and body-based therapies can help you reconnect with your body in a gentle, supportive way. Through practices such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation, you can begin to notice sensations, regulate your nervous system and build trust in yourself again.

Who we help

Day treatment is for people who need more support than weekly therapy or dietetic sessions can offer, but who don’t need inpatient care. It can also support people stepping down from hospital or residential treatment, helping recovery become part of everyday life.

You may benefit from day treatment if:

  • Your eating disorder is affecting your health, relationships or daily routine
  • You need regular support around meals, emotions and recovery behaviours
  • You feel stuck in outpatient therapy and need a more structured programme
  • You’re medically stable but would benefit from a higher level of care
  • You want specialist support while staying connected to home, work, study or loved ones

At Orri, we meet you where you are. Your programme is shaped around your needs, with a multidisciplinary team working alongside you to build safety, confidence and hope.

Seeking treatment is a big step, and worrying about funding shouldn’t make it any harder. Our simple insurance screener helps you quickly check whether your private medical insurer may cover treatment at Orri.

Our in-person programme takes place at our specialist clinic in Marylebone. You’ll attend a minimum of three full-day sessions each week, with access to therapy, supported meals, clinical care and Orri’s recovery community.

Staying connected to life beyond treatment

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in the life you’re returning to, one step at a time.

By going home or logging off in the evenings and at weekends, you can begin to apply what you’ve learnt to your daily routines, relationships and responsibilities. This helps recovery feel more real, sustainable and connected to the world around you.

As you progress, your programme will evolve with you. We’ll gradually adapt the level of support you receive, helping you build confidence, autonomy and trust in your ability to keep moving forward.

Starting with your story

No one understands your eating disorder better than you. That’s why we take time to get to know you before making any treatment recommendations.

Your intake assessment is an in-depth appointment that explores your experience, current needs and hopes for recovery. It’s also a chance to ask questions, discuss any worries and understand what day treatment at Orri could look like for you.

After your assessment, we’ll arrange a ‘next steps’ meeting to share our recommendations in a collaborative, personalised way. We know this can feel like a lot to take in. We’ll walk alongside you, helping you feel informed, supported and ready for what comes next.

Categories: Online Young Persons

Online Day Care may be suitable for young people aged 13–17 who need more structured and intensive support for an eating disorder than can be provided through standard outpatient care, but who can be safely supported within their home and community. Every young person is assessed individually to understand their needs, risks and circumstances before we recommend the most appropriate level of support.

Categories: Online Young Persons

During the most intensive stage of Online Day Care, a young person may need to step away from school or college for a short period to focus on stabilisation and recovery. During this time, Orri can liaise with teachers and other relevant professionals, with appropriate consent, as part of a coordinated multidisciplinary approach. As recovery progresses, the intensity of treatment can be gradually reduced. This allows education and other aspects of everyday life to be reintroduced at a pace that reflects the young person’s clinical needs and capacity. We work collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals to help treatment fit around a young person’s existing circumstances, which may include flexible timetables or a phased return to school. Our aim is to support recovery while helping young people maintain the routines, relationships and activities that are important to them.

Our clients follow a structured programme of therapeutic groups, supported meals and individual sessions, with regular breaks throughout the day. Full-day sessions run from 10:15am to 4pm, while part-day options are available depending on each person’s needs, circumstances and clinical assessment. Individual psychological therapy, dietetics and occupational therapy are woven into the timetable where needed.

A young person’s voice and circumstances are important parts of our approach. We recognise that engaging with eating disorder treatment can feel difficult, particularly when part of them may not yet feel ready to recover. Our assessment process helps us understand their individual needs, risks and capacity to engage, so we can consider what is the right level of support and how best to work alongside them and their family.
