We are incredibly proud to announce that Orri has once again been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), retaining the highest possible rating across our specialist eating disorder services.
Achieving an Outstanding rating is a significant milestone for any healthcare provider. Retaining it is even more meaningful. This latest inspection marks our first assessment at our new Wimpole Street home following our move from Hallam Street, reaffirming that the exceptional standards of care recognised in our previous inspection continue to define every aspect of the support we provide today.
The report recognises the compassion, expertise and dedication of our multidisciplinary team, highlighting the exceptional experiences of patients and carers, our personalised approach to treatment, and our commitment to continually improving the care we provide.
A service built around people
Recovery from an eating disorder is never one-size-fits-all. Every person’s experience is different, which is why we’ve always believed that treatment should be tailored to the individual, not the diagnosis.
The CQC recognised this throughout the inspection, describing Orri as delivering “an exceptional standard of care”, where people are treated with “remarkable kindness, empathy and compassion”.
Inspectors found that our face-to-face and online services provide “highly flexible and personalised options” that give people genuine choice and control over their treatment, ensuring support fits around their lives whilst maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.
Patients consistently told inspectors they felt listened to, respected and actively involved in their care, describing our team as “caring”, “compassionate”, “person-centred”, “non-judgemental” and “professional”. One patient simply said:
“I wish Orri was what everybody had; this is what treatment should be.”
Another shared:
“They treat you as a human being rather than a patient.”
For us, these comments mean just as much as the Outstanding rating itself.
Going beyond clinical excellence
Clinical expertise is fundamental to eating disorder treatment, but recovery also depends on feeling understood, supported and genuinely cared for.
The report highlights numerous examples of our team going above and beyond for patients and families. Inspectors heard how staff supported patients outside normal service hours during periods of crisis, developed personalised plans for family holidays abroad, and remained with patients during medical emergencies until additional support arrived.
This commitment extends beyond individual moments of care. The inspection found that our treatment goes beyond national guidance and best practice, with an extensive range of evidence-based therapies delivered through a stepped model of care that adapts to each person’s recovery journey. Inspectors also recognised our commitment to innovation, including dedicated pathways for neurodivergent patients and flexible treatment options across face-to-face, online and blended programmes.
A culture of continuous improvement
Outstanding care doesn’t happen by chance. It is built through listening, learning and continually asking how we can do better.
The CQC recognised the culture that underpins everything we do, describing a proactive approach to safety, openness and continuous improvement. Inspectors found that learning from incidents is embedded throughout the organisation, with staff feeling confident to raise concerns, share ideas and contribute to service development. They also highlighted the strength of our leadership, describing leaders as visible, knowledgeable and highly supportive, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
The report also acknowledged our close collaboration with healthcare partners across the system, with commissioners describing Orri as a “system leader” because of our communication, responsiveness and focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for people receiving care.
A message from our CEO
Commenting on the inspection, Kerrie Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Orri, said:
“When I founded Orri, I wanted to create the service I believed should exist for anyone experiencing an eating disorder, one that combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion, where every person is treated with dignity, hope and individuality. This report is a reflection of the incredible people who bring that vision to life every day. While we are proud of what has been recognised, we remain committed to continuously learning, improving and ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors receives the very best care possible.”
Thank you
This achievement belongs to everyone who has been part of Orri’s journey.
To our clients and families, thank you for trusting us to be part of your recovery.
To our dedicated team, thank you for bringing compassion, expertise and commitment to every interaction, every day.
To our NHS and independent partners, commissioners and referrers, thank you for your continued collaboration and confidence in our services.
While we are proud to have retained our Outstanding rating, we know our work doesn’t stop here. Eating disorders continue to affect more people than ever before, and too many individuals still face barriers to accessing specialist support.
Our focus remains exactly where it has always been: providing exceptional, person-centred eating disorder treatment, continually improving the care we offer, and helping more people find lasting recovery.
