Support alongside your everyday life

A safe space to explore you

Tailored eating disorder care and support

Recovery doesn’t have to mean stepping away from your life. Our outpatient programme provides specialist eating disorder treatment tailored to your needs, helping you access support while continuing with work, education, relationships and daily routines where possible.

We also offer support for loved ones, recognising that eating disorders can affect relationships and that those close to you may need guidance too.

Outpatient eating disorder treatment at Orri

Individual therapy

Individual therapy provides a confidential space to explore your relationship with food, your body and yourself. Led by experienced clinicians, these sessions help you better understand the factors contributing to your eating disorder while developing practical tools to support your wellbeing and recovery.

We’ll explore underlying challenges, build new coping strategies and support meaningful, lasting change.

Group therapy

Recovery can feel isolating, which is why many people find group therapy to be a valuable part of treatment. Guided by experienced therapists, group sessions offer a supportive environment where you can connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Sharing experiences with others can help reduce feelings of shame and isolation while building confidence and a greater sense of connection.

Current group sessions offered at Orri include:

Nutritional support

Our specialist dietitians help you develop a more trusting and flexible relationship with food. Rather than focusing on rules, numbers or restrictions, we support you in building confidence around eating and understanding your individual nutritional needs.

The aim is to help food feel less overwhelming and support progress at a pace that feels right for you.

Occupational therapy

Eating disorders can affect many areas of everyday life. Occupational therapy focuses on helping you reconnect with the activities, routines and relationships that matter to you.

Our occupational therapists support you to build confidence, resilience and independence while reconnecting with the parts of life that are important.

Somatic and body-based therapies

Recovery involves more than addressing eating disorder symptoms and behaviours. Our body-based therapies, including yoga, mindfulness and meditation, can help strengthen the connection between mind and body.

These sessions support emotional regulation, self-awareness and a greater sense of safety within your body.

Psychiatric support

Our specialist psychiatrists are part of your wider treatment team, providing medical support and guidance when needed. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, they help support both your physical and mental wellbeing, ensuring your treatment remains safe, effective and responsive to your needs.

Nursing

Our specialist nurses are an important part of your treatment team, providing practical support and helping to monitor your wellbeing throughout recovery. They work closely with you and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure care feels safe and tailored to your needs.

Support for family and loved ones

It can be challenging to support someone living with an eating disorder. Therapy involving family members and loved ones can provide a dedicated space to explore relationship dynamics, strengthen communication and identify ways to support recovery together.

We also offer individual carer psychotherapy, providing a confidential space for parents, partners and other loved ones to explore their own experiences and better understand the challenges they may be facing.

“The support I have received at Orri has been beyond amazing. The therapy is the best I’ve ever experienced, and I have been treated with respect, compassion and kindness throughout.”

Who we help

We support people aged 13 and over who are living with a suspected or diagnosed eating disorder, as well as those experiencing difficulties in their relationship with food, eating or their body. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to access support.

We also offer support for loved ones, recognising that recovery is often a journey shared with the people closest to you.

Our team works with people experiencing:

Many people affected by eating disorders experience other challenges alongside their eating disorder symptoms. That’s why we provide personalised support that considers the whole person, including their mental health and neurodivergent needs.

Is outpatient support right for me or my loved one?

Eating disorders affect everyone differently, and there’s no single path to recovery. Our outpatient programme supports people at different stages of their journey, providing personalised care that adapts to their needs and goals.

Outpatient treatment may be suitable for:

  • Early intervention and support for emerging eating disorder concerns
  • Step-down support following day treatment or other specialist services
  • Therapeutic support to explore the experiences, challenges and factors that may be contributing to an eating disorder
  • Parents, carers and loved ones seeking guidance throughout the recovery journey

If you’re unsure which level of support is right for you or your loved one, our team can help you explore the available treatment options.
