About this event
- Event lasts 1 hour
Orri is a specialist treatment service for eating disorders, rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Offering bespoke day treatment and outpatient services – both in person and online – at the heart of Orri is the belief that recovery is possible for all.
Eating disorders rank among the psychiatric conditions with the highest mortality rates, with one in five deaths of individuals suffering from anorexia nervosa resulting from suicide. Moreover, those affected by eating disorders are more prone to self-harm and suicidal thoughts, causing significant distress to themselves and their families, and presenting substantial suicide risk factors.
Delivered by Orri experts, Dr Louisa Beckford and Dr Joanna Silver, this CPD event is designed to provide healthcare professionals with an in-depth understanding of the critical intersection between suicide and eating disorders.
The agenda includes insightful presentations around recent research, risk assessment, psychological and physical co-morbidities, and is followed by an interactive Q&A session.
About your hosts:
Dr Louisa Beckford, Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Louisa Beckford has practised as a psychiatrist in the UK for 25 years and has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry since 2001.
