Nurturing Hope: New Chapters, Familiar Patterns

Orri is a specialist eating disorder treatment service, offering expert day treatment and outpatient programmes designed to support long-term recovery.

Nurturing Hope is our free, clinician-led space, exploring eating disorder recovery through monthly themes that meet people where they are.

This month, we’re focusing on New Chapters, Familiar Patterns.

September often brings new starts — a return to education or work, changes in routine, new environments or simply the feeling of moving into a different chapter.

Periods of transition can be exciting, but they can also unsettle the structures that have helped recovery feel more manageable. Familiar eating disorder thoughts or behaviours may become louder when life feels less predictable.

That doesn’t mean progress has been lost.

Through this session, we’ll explore how to navigate change while protecting recovery. We’ll reflect on recognising early warning signs, creating supportive routines without rigidity, and carrying the skills developed in recovery into new situations and environments.

New beginnings don’t mean starting from scratch.
