Selma Zaki is an eating disorders psychologist within our outpatient team, offering one-to-one psychotherapy to our clients.
Selma received her graduate degree at Columbia University and has worked in several clinical settings in New York City; including private practices, hospitals, and community health centers. She also worked in human rights as a Director of Community Mental Health Programme, supporting and serving activists across different countries and contexts.
Selma primarily practices relational psychodynamic therapy, and integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Somatic Therapy approaches into her practice. She works with a broad range of psychological issues including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, existential concerns, and individual, collective, and intergenerational trauma.
In her work with clients, Selma focuses on building a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients can safely examine how developmental, relational, and environmental realities might have influenced psychological health.
She simultaneously supports clients with developing tools and skills to support them in processing and letting go of unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. With increased awareness and emotional and psychological skills, clients can move towards practicing and integrating new ways of being.
Selma can provide psychotherapy in both English and Arabic.
