Meet the team

Kathrin Gioia,

Specialist Occupational Therapist

Kathrin is a Specialist Occupational Therapist at Orri, working as part of the online outpatient team.

With a background in mental health, Kathrin brings a unique blend of international training and specialised expertise to her role. After honing her skills in London, where she focused on supporting individuals facing mental health challenges, she returned to South Africa to establish her own private practice before joining the Orri team remotely.

In her role, Kathrin conducts comprehensive assessments to understand how eating disorders impact clients’ daily lives and functioning. Utilising Occupational Therapy models and principles, she collaborates with clients to develop personalised interventions aimed at enhancing their engagement in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. By fostering independence in self-care routines and facilitating meaningful participation in work and hobbies, Kathrin empowers clients to lead fulfilling lives despite the challenges they may encounter.

Examples of Kathrin’s work include creating structured routines to support meal planning and preparation, implementing coping strategies for managing anxiety around food, and facilitating meaningful activities to promote overall well-being and recovery. With a compassionate and client-centred approach, she strives to support individuals on their journey toward improved health and quality of life.
