Psychiatrist

Orri is looking for a Psychiatrist to join our growing team!

Hours: Monday to Friday, two to three days per week.
Base: 80-81 Wimpole St, London W1G 9RE
Contract type: Permanent, Part-Time

Salary: £135,000- £145,000 FTE

Role Overview:

The post holder will advise the prescribing medical provider on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, also providing the care team with educational support on diagnosing and managing Eating Disorders. The core responsibility will be in taking the lead role in delivery, supervision and consultation regarding psychiatric care and medical risk management. The post holder will be a significant member of the clinical management group for the Orri eating disorder services contributing to service development and management.

Main Duties:

  • Provide weekly caseload consultation, conducted by telephone, video, or in person.
  • Provide psychiatric management for a caseload of complex clients. The psychiatric management of a personal caseload will be varied and may include medication management, management of self-harm and suicide risk, management of physical health & risks, supportive therapy and family-based interventions.
  • Share responsibility with fellow consultant psychiatrist for the systems of psychiatric & medical risk management for the service as a whole, and in providing risk management consultation for other case-holding members of the multi- disciplinary team.
  • Monitor systems for the risk management of eating disorders clients and work with the RMN providing supervision for the physical risk management work with clients.
  • Act as part of the intake and assessment of complex new referrals, including those with co-occurring presentations. All new referrals to the service will involve an assessment of psychiatric and physical risk and the generation of a care plan. At times it will involve liaison with other services about co-occurring presentations needing the continued input of other community or inpatient teams.
  • Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis and to ensure resulting actions are implemented.
  • Support Orri’s commitment to training and development through contribution to Orri’s Modular training programme and participate in webinars aimed at colleagues and the wider ED community.
  • Work alongside the R&D team to support research initiatives contributing to Orri’s commitment to further knowledge and awareness of eating disorders
  • Contribute to service development initiatives working alongside the Service Director to develop and improve client experience and outcomes.

Desired Skills and Expertise:

  • Be a fully qualified psychiatrist and be MRCPsych accredited.
  • Experience delivering individual and group therapies.
  • Experience working with clients who have had an eating disorder.
  • Maintaining a professional portfolio for CPD recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities.
  • The ability to critically evaluate current research and apply to practice.
  • Reviews and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills.
