Sharmaline is a specialist eating disorder therapist working within Orri’s outpatient team, both in person and online.
Sharmaline has extensive experience working within mental health and eating disorders. Initially working as a therapist at the University of Cambridge, Sharmaline encountered students struggling with eating disorders and strove to understand the complexities surrounding this experience. She went on to obtain multiple qualifications from the National Centre for Eating Disorders training facility.
At Orri, Sharmaline works to establish a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship with clients. Her approach recognises the importance of physical and psychological recovery working in tandem. With clients, she invites exploration into a person’s relationship to food, the ‘eating disorder mindset’ and habits, self-esteem, body image, perfectionism, relationships, assertiveness and the regulation of emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilt, shame and anger.
