Dr Louisa Beckford is one of Orri’s Consultant Psychiatrists. She has practised as a psychiatrist in the UK for 25 years and has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry since 2001.
Louisa has worked in eating disorder psychiatry for over 10 years. Her experience includes inpatient, outpatient and intensive day treatment settings.
Louisa’s early training was based at the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospitals. She then relocated to Warwickshire where she completed her certificate of completed training in general adult and old age psychiatry. She has a very broad range of experience in psychiatry, including general adult psychiatry, old age psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, eating disorders and addictions.
Louisa strives to improve outcomes for people with eating disorders. She has a particular interest in assessing and treating co-morbid conditions that can slow recovery in eating disorders. She is experienced in prescribing in psychiatry but adopts a cautious approach in prescribing in eating disorders.
Louisa has worked at Orri for 2 years and feels that the approach used at Orri has transformed her views on how intensive day treatment (one of Orri’s services) can improve the lives of those with eating disorders and people close to them.
